Superior workmanship makes this a top-of-the-line harmonium, ensuring good fluency and dynamics of the keyboard and long-term tightness of the air chambers. Its 39 keys give a range of three octaves and two half note steps. Each note is fitted with two well responding quality reeds in middle and low octave (male / bass). They can be played separately or in combination, giving three different tonal colours, and produce a particularly warm and round sound. The back bellows are open to the top. They fold out and fill themselves automatically when unlocked. You just need to pull them towards yourself for playing - always against a little resistence, though. The level height of the keys can be adjusted. A special Paloma feature is the surface treatment with wax in order to enhance the beauty of the natural wood veining - it pleases eye and hand alike and gives the instrument a very natural, organic feel.
Total range of three octaves and two half notes (= 39 notes), double reeds (male / bass), four register stops, four drone stops (c, d, g, a), double fold back bellows, adjustable English keys, cabinet made of unstained teak wood, wedges for easy opening, surfaces wax treated, including wooden crate with handles (on request).
Paloma is the international brand name for instruments made by Haribhau Vishwanath from Mumbai (formerly Bombay). Haribhau Vishwanath was founded in 1925 as a small repair business and developed into one of the leading Indian harmonium manufacturers in the course of decades. In addition, Haribhau Vishwanath makes shrutiboxes, santoors, swarmandals and some drums. Haribhau Vishwanath is also an active musical instrument trader and supplies us with some rarely demanded instruments where a direct purchase from the manufacturer is not profitable. Thanks to his good infrastructure and long experience with instrument manufacturing, trading and international shipping, Haribhau currently supplies all common harmonium models and many other instruments constantly in a high quality regarding workmanship. In addition, he excels through attractive innovations, like e.g. the harmonium Compactina or a particular silk-mat finish. Haribhau Vishwanath is a partner of India Instruments since 2005. Today the company is run by Ashish Diwane.
